Knight of Illumination

In June 2008, STLD Sponsors Clay Paky will be hosting their first lighting awards event, as announced last year at the ABTT 2007 exhibition.
The event will be known as The Clay Paky Knight of Illumination for the Year 2007, in association with the ALD and the STLD.

The ABTT exhibition will be held on 11th and 12th June 2008 at The Royal Horticultural Halls in Westminster and the presentation will be held on 11th June; please check here for more details of how to attend when they are released.

They would like to give recognition to lighting excellence in Television, Theatre and for Live Events, and have invited the STLD to help them gather the TV nominations to offer a judging panel.

STLD Diary misprint?

STLD members should all have received their smart new 2008 diaries by now - however we have had a single report of a printing problem, in that the pages go straight from March 2nd to October 13th, then at the end of the year they go back to October 13th again.

We think this was an isolated incident as we have heard nothing till now, but would be grateful if you could check your copy for that or any other binding problems. If it has happened more than once we need to know in order to rectify the situation. And if anyone has not received their diary please contact us too!

Contact us via the Membership Query section if you have a faulty diary!

Other Future Visits

There are several more irons in the fire, though details for the following are still to be confirmed:

Light Relief day - 24th April

What do Billy Elliot, Mamma Mia!, Chicago, We Will Rock You, Guys and Dolls, Spamalot, Evita, Les Miserables and Boeing, Boeing have in common? Easy - the Lighting Designers of these and many other shows will be donating a day's royalties to Light Relief on Light Relief Day, 24 April.

Light Relief Day is held in honour of the late Tony Gottelier, and is the brainchild of lighting designer Rick Fisher, who wanted a permanent way of remembering Tony.
